7 Sharp — Communication Micro-Drills

Overview

Clear, concise communication is one of the most valuable professional skills, yet few tools exist to help people actually practice it. We read books about storytelling, attend workshops on executive presence, and then return to our desks without a structured way to drill the fundamentals. I wanted to build something that treats communication the way Duolingo treats language — short, repeatable, and addictive.

7 Sharp is an AI-powered micro-drill game that challenges users to respond to real-world prompts in seven seconds or less. Elevator pitches, tough stakeholder questions, project status updates — the scenarios mirror the moments where brevity and clarity matter most. The constraint is the point: seven seconds forces you to find the signal in the noise and deliver it with confidence.

My Contribution

Core training framework — I designed the 7-second communication framework at the heart of the experience. Each drill presents a simulated real-world scenario and prompts the user to craft a rapid, focused response. The tight time constraint is intentional — it trains the instinct to lead with the most important idea rather than building up to it. I mapped drill categories to the communication situations professionals encounter most frequently, ensuring the practice transfers directly to daily work.

AI feedback engine — I developed a feedback system that analyzes each response for tone, clarity, and structure in real time. Rather than a simple pass-fail score, the engine surfaces specific, actionable observations — highlighting where a response lost focus, where the language could be sharper, or where the tone didn’t match the scenario. The feedback is designed to feel like a smart coach, not a grading rubric.

Gamified progression — I introduced XP systems, daily streaks, and progress dashboards to turn skill-building into a habit. The gamification layer serves a real learning purpose — spaced repetition and daily engagement are what move communication from a concept you understand to a reflex you own. I calibrated the reward curves to sustain motivation without cheapening the challenge.

MVP build and validation — I built and deployed a working prototype to validate the core learning loop. Early testing confirmed that users found the drills engaging and the AI feedback genuinely useful for sharpening how they communicate under pressure. The result is a tool that lets professionals and coaches practice real-world communication skills in just minutes per day.
